Cabinet Minister and newly appointed state party president of SP, Shivpal Singh Yadav was elected chairman of the management committee of the district cooperative bank in Etawah for the eighth consecutive time, according to a tweet wrote by him.
Etawah city magistrate Jagatpal Singh, who was election officer for the district cooperative bank management committee, said all 13 nominees were elected as directors of the committee unopposed, including Shivpal and his wife, Sarla Yadav. The 13 management committee members (directors) then elected Shivpal as the chairman, reports Indian Express.
Shivpal Yadav also holds the portfolio of co-operative as a Cabinet minister. The committee members also elected Shivpal’s son Aditya Yadav as representative of Etawah District Cooperative Bank in Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Bank Limited and Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Federation Limited.
An official of UP Cooperative Banks Limited said that the posts of directors and chairman in the committee hold political significance, as such banks are connected directly to the people in rural areas.
