In a rare gesture, possible only in cooperative fraternity, Maharashtra based Jalgaon Janata Sahakari Bank gave shop to Self Help Groups for selling their products such as Papad, pickles, liquid soaps, Masala, chips and others.
Fulfilling the promise made during the AGM of the UCB, bank’s Chairman Anil Rao said that the bank will give shop for selling products of Self Help Groups with charging a pai. “It is our CSR”, Rao added.
Following this, in a WhatsApp message sent by UCB’s PRO Girish Takane wrote, “Bank has given shops to SHGs for selling the products on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi under one roof in the premises of head office without any rent. The name of shop is “Samrudhi “.
It bears recall that as of now Jalgaon Janata Sahakari Bank is running about 3500 self-help groups which have more than 60,000 active women members.
“Bank has also started door step service for Senior Citizen Customers of bank which are having age of 75 or above. It has also set up Income Tax advice counter at several branches for Senior Citizen customers to solve their IT issues”, informed the PRO.
It may not be out of place to mention that Jalgaon Janata Sahakari Bank is having a business mix of about Rs 2200 crore and a network of over 39 branches across the state. The Bank has earned a net profit of Rs 11.04 crore in the last financial year 2017-18.
