Shaji K V becomes Nabard new Chairman; replaces Chintala

Shaji K V has become the Chairman of National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (Nabard) w.e.f 07 December 2022.

He was earlier Deputy Managing Director (DMD) of NABARD from 21 May 2020.

He is a postgraduate in agriculture and holds PGDM in Public Policy from Indian Institute of Management (IIM), Ahmedabad.

Before joining NABARD, he worked in Canara Bank in various capacities for 26 years. As his last assignment, he was at the corporate office of Canara Bank in charge of Strategy, Planning and Business Development. He had successfully handled the project of amalgamation of Syndicate Bank into Canara Bank.

Shaji K V was earlier also the Chairman of India’s largest Regional Rural Bank, Kerala Gramin Bank.

It bears recalling that under the chairmanship of Shaji KV, an Expert Committee was constituted by the Ministry of Cooperation to conduct a Study on “Relevance, applicability and retention of three-tier Short Term Cooperative Credit Structures (STCS)”.
