While responding to a query raised by a Lok Sabha MP, Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah informed that during the current financial year, up to 22nd November 2024, a total of 53,546 co-operators across the country benefited from training programs conducted under the Sahakar Pragya initiative.
These programs were organized by the Laxmanrao Inamdar National Academy for Cooperative Research and Development (LINAC), which serves as the training, research, and consultancy wing of the National Cooperative Development Corporation (NCDC).
The figures are remarkable, as a total of 61,306 cooperators were trained across the country under the Sahakar Pragya initiative over the last six financial years. In comparison, the current financial year alone accounts for 53,546 trained cooperators, showcasing significant progress.
He further stated, “Sahakar Pragya focuses on developing professionalism in primary cooperatives engaged in agriculture and allied sectors. It designs and delivers need-based training programs for personnel of assisted cooperatives and NCDC officials,”Shah said.
He added, “The initiative collaborates with the Centre for International Cooperation in Training & Agricultural Banking (CICTAB), the Network for the Development of Agricultural Cooperatives in Asia and the Pacific (NEDAC), and other international agencies to conduct specialized training programs.”
“These programs benefit co-operators in India and abroad, including participants from South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) countries,” the minister informed.
