BJP MP Tejasvi Surya’s participation in a public meeting in Bengaluru turned chaotic as aggrieved depositors of the Sri Guru Raghavendra Sahakara Bank Niyamitha (SGRSBN) confronted him over losses suffered in a multi-crore scam.
The incident unfolded during a Co-operative Bank Association session, attended by politicians ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, where supporters of Surya and Basavangudi MLA Ravi Subramanian were also present.
Amid the uproar, depositors demanded accountability for delayed compensation. Surya’s office, however, blamed the chaos on alleged interference by Congress, citing orchestrated disruptions by non-depositors.
The scam, which surfaced in 2020, involved misappropriation of Rs 2,500 crore, leaving over 15,000 depositors uncompensated.
