A seminar on ‘Medical care and the cooperative sector,’ organized on the occasion of the 10th anniversary celebrations of N.S. Memorial Cooperative Hospital in Kerala advocated the opening of pharmaceutical companies in the cooperative sector to make available medicines at affordable prices, reports Hindu.
Speakers in the seminar called for starting production of pharmaceuticals in the cooperative sector so that common people could escape being plundered. They called upon the central and state govts to intervene without delay, those addressing the seminar suggested. .
Functionaries of several cooperative hospitals across Kerala expressed their views in the seminar saying cooperative hospitals should be allowed freedom to pursue their goals of offering their best possible services to the public. They also expressed their concern over the extreme commercialization of the health sector.
