Amit Shah asking Sanghani to stay behind for some time, once the courtesy calls of cooperators were over on Saturday scotched the rumour doing the rounds in the cooperative corridors that the two did not enjoy a cordial relationship.
The rumour had it that while Sanghani enjoys the trust of Prime Minister Narendra Modi he does not have a cordial relationship with Amit Shah. When Indian Cooperative confronted Sanghani with the question, he gave a big laugh and said nothing could be farther from the truth.
Sanghani said he and Amit Shah are and will be part of the famous five formed in the mid-eighties. Other names Sanghani took were that of Shankar Chaurdhary, Ajay Patel, Dollar V. Kotecha and Bhupendrasinh Chudasama. We always sat together and brainstormed the issues before the state.
It is a matter of common sense that if I have good relations with Modi how can it be so that I don’t enjoy good relations with Amitbhai, said Sanghani.
To tell you the truth whenever a cooperative related matter cropped up, Modiji would always ask both of us-me and Amitbhai to jointly work out a solution. It bears recalling that both Amit Shah and Dileep Sanghani were part of the Modi Cabinet when the latter was the chief minister in Gujarat.
“In the Saturday one to one meeting, we went down memory lane and recalled several incidents from the past. One of which was while Amitbhai was in Yuva Morch and was once travelling on foot when I passed him by on a vehicle. Realizing it was Amitbhai, I reversed the gear and forced him to sit and later dropped him to Gandhinagar. Endowed with photographic memory it was Amitbhai who recalled this story’, said Sanghani with a touch of nostalgia.
