The Committee formed on Minimum Support Price (MSP) has the name of IFFCO Chairman Dileep Sanghani. There are several experts from the agricultural sector in the committee which would be headed by Sanjay Agrawal, former agriculture secretary.
The cooperative sector was jubilant when the news of Sanghani’s inclusion in the Committee came. IFFCO MD Dr U S Awasthi was one of the first to greet Sanghani. Later he tweeted “Congratulations to Shri Dileep_Sanghani Ji, Chairman, IFFCO for being nominated by Govt of India as part of a special committee panel formed to decide on more effective various aspects on MSP as the representative of farmers largest cooperative IFFCO.”
Another name from the co-operative sector in the committee is that of CNRI General Secretary Binod Anand. Anand was connected to Vamnicom also in the past.
The Committee will have three members from Sanyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), Niti Aayog member Ramesh Chand, CSC Shekhar, Sukhpal Singh, Naveen P Singh, Bharat Bhushan Tyagi, Gunwant Patil, Krishnaveer Choudhary, Pramod Kumar Choudhary, Guni Prakash and Sayyed Pasha Patel.
Senior members of agricultural universities, five central government secretaries and chief secretaries of Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, Sikkim and Odisha are also part of the committee.
At the time of repealing the three farm laws, the government had promised to set up a committee to discuss the farmers’ demand for a legal guarantee on MSP.
