The first meeting of the newly constituted committee on Minimum Support Price (MSP) was held on Monday at the National Agriculture Science Complex (NASC) in the national capital, which was attended by IFFCO Chairman Dileepbhai Sanghani besides other members.
The former agriculture secretary Sanjay Agrawal presided over the meeting. The committee in its first meeting made suggestions on programs and plans for area expansion under the Indian Natural Farming System through value chain development and research for future requirements.
Soon after the meeting, Sanghani rushed to attend the Nafed’s National Conference on “Role of cooperative societies in agricultural marketing” on Monday at Hotel Taj in Bhopal.
“In the first meeting of the committee, suggestions were also given on the development of a chain of laboratories for international coordination of methods, means and organic certification of products produced to strengthen the value chain development of natural farming”, according to the information shared through the twitter handle of the Union Agriculture Ministry.
Readers would recall that while announcing the repeal of three farm laws in November last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had promised to set up a committee to look into farmers’ MSP issues.
