The Department of Fisheries under the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, and Dairying is hosting the Northeastern Region States Meet on January 6, 2024, in Guwahati, Assam.
Chaired by Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh, the event will review the implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana (PMMSY) and feature key ministers from the Northeast.
Projects worth ?50 crore will be inaugurated to boost fisheries development in the region. Certificates and awards will be distributed to fisheries beneficiaries, including the announcement of an Organic Fisheries Cluster in Sikkim.
A technical session by ICAR Deputy Director General Dr. J.K. Jena will address challenges in fisheries and aquaculture. This meet aims to strengthen sustainable practices, enhance productivity, and uplift fisher communities in the region.
