Media reports say the Calcutta High Court has asked the West Bengal government’s co-operation department not to carry out a special audit of Contai Cooperative Bank without its permission.
However, the court has ruled that books of accounts and other records and documents of the bank could be inspected.
It is worth mentioning that BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari is the chairman of the bank. The opposition BJP has charged Mamta Banerjee with carrying out a political witch hunt against its workers and leaders.
