Netaji Subhash Regional Institute of Cooperative Management, Kalyani, Nadia, West Bengal recently organized a seminar to celebrate the International Cooperative Day as well as the UN International Day of the Cooperatives.
A galaxy of eminent speakers took part in the Seminar. Most of the speakers underscored the relevance of the cooperative movement as well as discussed the challenges facing it.
Raj Kumar Patra, Director of the institute, who chaired the Seminar talked about the excellent work being performed by the Self Help Groups at the village level, established by the PACS.
Several others who spoke at the Seminar also talked about the challenges plaguing cooperatives and various socio-economic factors needed to help develop Cooperatives, so that they could serve the downtrodden and weaker sections of society.
