International news agency Reuters reports India’s largest dairy cooperative Amul has called upon the govt of India to postpone banning plastic straws as it will have negative consequences for dairy farmers and dairy consumers in the country.
Amul has addressed a letter to prime minister Narendra Modi ahead of a July ban on straws.
In the letter, Amu MD R.S.Sodhi said, the ban on straws would affect milk consumption. A delay would ‘provide huge relief and benefit ‘ to millions of dairy farmers, he remarked.
