A report by Times of India says the Nagpur bench of Bombay High Court has granted interim stay to MLA Sunil Kedar, who had challenged the interlocutory orders of investigation into Rs 150 crore scam of Nagpur District Central Cooperative Bank (NDCCB) scam by an enquiry officer Kharbade.

Kedar had moved a petition while praying for ‘de novo’ trial, contending that the old enquiry records of former department of cooperatives officer Yashwant Bagde, who had conducted the enquiry, shouldn’t be considered by Kharbade. Kedar had asked that the latter should be asked to freshly investigate the allegations and collect new evidence.

Based on Bagde’s report, the department of cooperatives had directed former chairman Kedar, a NCP MLA then, to cough up around Rs299 crore for the loss caused due to the scam. This was one of the biggest cooperative scandals of the country involving top politicians.

Earlier, Kedar had moved an application before Kharbade that in ‘de novo’ trial the old enquiry records shouldn’t be considered, but it was rejected. This decision has been challenged in the high court.
