Parshottam Rupala, Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmers Welfare speaking on the occasion of valedictory function of the 12th ICA-AP Regional Assembly and the 9th Cooperative Forum in Delhi said cooperatives are playing an important role in achieving the UN Sustainable Development goals.
Rupala talked about various successful cooperatives like Amul and the cooperatives working in Kerala like ULCC contract society. He also said that cooperatives should work on the principle “Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas”, a principle which has been initiated by PM Narendra Modi. He appreciated the efforts put in by NCUI in organising this International Conference.
Balu Iyer Regional Director, ICA-AP pointed out some important recommendations made -cooperatives should embrace modern technology in their activities, they must adopt gender equality as a pre condition for reducing poverty and follow a sustainable development model etc.
Dr Chandrapal Singh, President NCUI in his presidential address told about the Gujarat model which is highly successful and highlighted how Indian cooperatives are improving the lives of poor families..
Li Chensheng President ICA-AP proposed a vote of thanks. He said cooperatives have enough potential to work for a sustainable future. He said this Regional Assembly will strengthen the bonds of cooperation among cooperatives in the Asia Pacific Region.
