RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das has said he will meet representatives of cooperative banks soon to discuss issues bothering them, reports PTI.
Earlier, Das met Public sector lenders and now he focusses on private banks and cooperative banks. He has begun his term by first listening to all the stake-holders of the financial world, a step being welcomed by the experts.
There are several issues on which the urban cooperative banks would want RBI Governor to have fresh look. The issue of exemption from the income tax (80P) is one major aspect that has crippled the functioning of the UCBs, say leaders.
UCBs are also in the process of setting up umbrella organization and the meeting would give cooperative leaders a chance to make the new Governor understand the concept in entirety.
