In the 2021-22 financial year, the Reserve Bank of India imposed a penalty on 145 cooperative banks worth Rs 12.10 crore.
During April 2021-March 2022, the Department undertook enforcement action against 182 REs (189 penalties) and imposed an aggregate penalty of Rs 65.32 crore for non-compliance with provisions/contravention of certain directions issued by the Reserve Bank from time to time through various circulars
The RBI fined 13 Public Sector Banks and 16 Private Sector Banks worth Rs 17.55 crore and Rs 29.38 crore respectively in the 2021-22 FY.
Besides, the apex bank imposed a penalty on 10 NBFCs to the tune of Rs 1.03 crore.
