It is a move which other state governments should follow. Farmers in Rajasthan getting loans from cooperative banks will automatically be entitled to benefit from Prime Minister’s Crop Insurance Scheme.
This is being done by the state government to ensure a single comprehensive insurance cover for farmers, reports Hindu.
Official sources say the premium amount would be deposited with the insurance company and the interests of farmers protected.
Experts say the move would greatly buoy up cooperative banks as sources of credit for the rural economy.
