Rajasthan government intends diversifying the business of Consumer Cooperative Societies in the state into activities such as beauty parlors, restaurants, GYM etc.
Already on the roof tops of the cooperative societies of Jodhpur and Jaisalmer, a cooperative restaurant is being built which will perhaps be the first of its kind in the cooperative sector. A clothe shop will also be opened at Chittorgarh.
The first beauty parlor will be opened at Hanumangarh and it is said that there is lot of demand. The services of parlors will be cheaper in comparison to private parlors. Similarly, the process of opening a restaurant at Dausa is on.
In Bikaner a departmental store will be opened which will offer home delivery services. Presently, most of the cooperative stores are operating as medical stores.
It is being reported that there are about 228 purchase and sale cooperative societies and around 44 societies deal in vegetables. These societies are likely to start computer centres, coaching centres, mobile repair shops and home appliances shops.
Rajasthan government will shortlist 10 percent of Gram Sewa Sahakari Samitis at district level for opening super markets under them.
