According to the chairman of the credit cooperative parliamentarian Narendra Sawaikar, the credit society traces its history back to 1964 when it began functioning with a modest capital of a couple of thousands of rupees.
The society has since progressed a great deal boasting an annual turnover of Rs 225 crore. The organization that started with only 125 members has now about 10 thousand members. It has a network of 28 branches, informed the chairman.
A large number of distinguished persons including the Goa cooperation minister Pandurang Deepak Dhavailikar and several cooperative high ups were present on the occasion.
