Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Shivraj Singh Chouhan, met with specially invited farmers at the Pusa Campus in New Delhi on the 76th Republic Day. During his address, he stated that “Farmers are our God, and serving them is like serving God.”
He highlighted the government’s ongoing efforts to empower and uplift farmers, particularly through the procurement of crops at Minimum Support Price (MSP), ensuring fair value for their hard work.
Chouhan also emphasized the importance of modern agricultural techniques, stating that technology is being leveraged to address farmer challenges. He discussed the significance of natural farming and crop diversification, noting initiatives to raise awareness among farmers.
Additionally, he touched upon the “Farm to Consumer” model, aiming to enable farmers to sell directly to consumers, eliminating intermediaries and increasing profits. He concluded by reaffirming that agriculture is the backbone of India’s economy, with farmers at its heart.
