A debt relief scheme recently approved by the Punjab govt is likely to benefit 2.85 lakh farm laborers and landless farming members of Primary Cooperative Agriculture Service Societies (PACS) in the state. Majority of them will be the people belonging to the weaker sections of society, reports The New Indian Express.
The decision to grant relief to the poor would mean implementing the announcement made by the govt. in the state assembly.
The debt relief will exclude all those working with the govt and public sector undertakings. The accounts of the beneficiaries would be Aadhar-seeded to avoid duplication.
