Punjab Sahakar Bharati has demanded the Punjab government to withdraw the government registration fee imposed on the registration of cooperative societies, which is between Rs 1 lakh to Rs 20 lakh.
Speaking to journalists at the Service Club in Amritsar, Shankar Dutt, the North Regional Organizing Secretary of Sahakar Bharati, along with Ashwani Malhotra, the patron of Punjab Sahakar Bharati, and Balram Das Bawa, Sardar Rajendra Marwaha, the Industrial Cooperative Division Chief of Punjab, said in two words that the government should immediately withdraw the notification of the feudal order issued on September 25, 2023.
They explained that cooperative societies have been formed for decades with the primary goal of creating self-employment opportunities to improve the economic condition of economically weaker individuals under the cooperative banner.
They stated that so far no state government charges any registration fee for registering more than 32 types of societies, but the Punjab government has imposed a fee ranging from one lakh to 20 lakh rupees for registration while issuing the feudal order, which affects cooperative societies.”
