Punjab Markfed: Samra makes it third time

Former state Cabinet Minister Amarjit Singh Samra took over as the new chairman of Markfed, Punjab. It is Samra’s third stint as the chairman of the Punjab’s apex cooperative body, reports Times of India.

The senior Congress leader from Doaba was an MLA from Nakodar constituency of Jalandhar for four consecutive terms. He became a minister of state (with independent charge) in March 2002 under the stewardship of Captain Amarinder. In 2004, he was elevated to the cabinet minister’s rank.

Samra has been associated with the cooperative movement from a long time. He remained the director of the the Jalandhar Central Cooperative Bank twice. After assuming the charge , Samra said sincere efforts would be made to put Markfed on the growth path.
