The Punjab and Haryana HC has said the decision of Sangrur Registrar of Cooperative Societies declaring members ineligible for taking part in an election is a whimsical decision, reports Tribune.
The court stayed the resolution of a recent managing committee meeting whereby the election of office-bearers was conducted and the president and the vice-president were elected.
The court also stayed the operation of an order whereby the Assistant Registrar said the petitioner-members would not take part in the said meeting till the final decision in the matter.
The petitioners had argued they were duly elected as Cooperative Society members in June 2019 and challenge to their election was negated by the order of the Deputy Registrar.
