Farmers, led by Bharatiya Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) in Bhatinda in Punjab are protesting against cooperative banks, arthiyas and other financial organizations for taking blank cheques from them before giving them loans, reports Tribune News Service.
Kisan leaders say farmers are facing all kinds of problems including coming under debt because the govt. is pursuing anti-farmer policies.
They also criticized the state govt for not keeping its poll promises.
Farmers have also demanded compensation for the families of the farmers who have committed suicide, implementation of the Swaminathan Commission recommendations, stopping forced debt recovery and releasing the arrested farmers.
