Janata Sahakari Bank Ltd., Pune, has actively participated in the nationwide ‘Swachhata Hi Seva’ campaign, organizing a series of events across its branches from September 17, 2024, to honor the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi.
As part of the initiative, the bank hosted a ‘Safai Mitra Arogya Shivir’ (Health Camp for Sanitation Workers) at its Head Office in collaboration with local authorities. The camp saw the participation of 150 Safai Mitras (sanitation workers) who received health checkups and medical kits. The event was graced by Union Minister of State for Cooperation and Civil Aviation Muralidhar Mohol as the Chief Guest. Local legislators Sunil Kamble, MLA, and Mrs. Madhuri Misal, MLA, were also in attendance.
Minister Mohol praised the bank’s efforts in supporting sanitation workers, acknowledging the bank’s role in safeguarding the health of those who play a vital part in keeping the city clean. Also present were Janata Bank’s Chairman Ravindra Hejib, CEO Jagdish Kashyap, and members of the board.
In addition to the health camp, the bank organized various other programs across its branches in Latur, Kolhapur, Udgir, Chiplun, Junnar, Otur, and more.
As a secondary objective of the campaign, the bank launched the ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’ (One Tree for Mother) tree plantation drive, with programs held at branches in Pune, Udgir, Latur, Kolhapur, Ratnagiri, and Chiplun. A large number of customers enthusiastically participated in these tree-planting activities, contributing to environmental sustainability efforts.
