Pune Dist Co-op Milk Union employs latest tech

Pune District Cooperative Milk Union, which sells its products under the brand name of Katraj, has established FTIR Technology Based Milk Analyzer which was inaugurated by MP Supriya Sule on Monday.

Sharing the news with photos, Sule wrote on her twitter wall, ” A new machine called FTIR Technology Based Milk Analyzer was inaugurated at Pune District Co-operative Milk Producers Association, Katraj today. President of Dudh Sangh Vishnu Hinge, Vice President Vaishali Gopalghare and other members, staff were present on the occasion.

Later, talking to Indian Cooperative, Dairy Lab Department, HoD, Shashikant Tajbize said, “It is a Denmark based technology for accurate detection and estimation of milk composition and adulterants. It gives results in just 30 seconds and it was set up in the Dairy premises at Pune”.

Katraj Dairy with its nine chilling plants and 133 BMC spread almost all over the district has an installed milk handling capacity of over 2 lakh liters per day. The average sale is Rs 1.18 Lakh and 834 dairy co-ops are its members. The Dairy earned a net profit of Rs 2.5 crore in 2019-20 FY, informed Tajbize over the phone.
