A massive fire erupted in ATM of Sahakar Nagar branch of Pune based Janata Sahakari Bank Saturday morning. The ATM machine and lakhs of rupees were completely burnt.
It has been reported that as passersby saw the flames billowing from the ATM, they immediately informed fire brigade and police.
The fire brigade was a little late in reaching the spot and the ATM and the room housing it was gutted. Meanwhile, Fire Brigade has said the fire was caused by short circuits. The CCTV footage is being examined.
Sources say the money had been put into the ATM just a few hours before the incident and therefore lakhs of rupees got burnt. The Bank has not mentioned the exact amount of the money burnt, but sources say there were lots of high denomination notes in the ATM.
