Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah announced the conversion of ethanol-producing units in cooperative sugar mills into multi-feed ethanol units, enabling the production of ethanol from maize in addition to sugarcane.
He stated, “This will now allow ethanol to be produced not only from sugarcane but also from maize. Shah also revealed policy changes, including the removal of the Minimum Export Price (MEP) on onions and Basmati rice, along with a reduction of export duty on onions from 40% to 20%”.
Shah made these remarks during a press conference in New Delhi on Tuesday, highlighting the key initiatives and achievements of the first 100 days of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s third term.
During the event, he released a special booklet titled Paving the Path to Viksit Bharat and eight flyers showcasing the significant accomplishments under Modi’s leadership.
