Inaugurating an event in Delhi on Saturday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged cooperatives to help farmers in soil testing by making labs.
“Cooperative organizations and PACS should set up small soil testing labs in their areas and encourage farmers to constantly monitor the health of their soil. Co-ops can also come forward in creating a vast network of soil testing labs”, said the Prime Minister.
He suggested that farmers associated with cooperatives be taught to analyse the health of the soil and on the basis of soil health the farmers should focus on producing respective crops.
It is worth mentioning, the two fertilizer giants IFFCO and Kribhco are already helping farmers in addressing the issues of soil and providing information to them on nutrient status of their soil.
