The Economic Offences Wing took into custody four functionaries of a primary agricultural cooperative credit society in Pelandurai near Vriddhachalam in Tamil Nadu for indulging in financial irregularities, reports Hindu.
The accused had cheated the society of Rs 1.59 crore by giving farm loans in the names of deceased persons from 2013-to 2020.
The Deputy Registrar of the cooperative societies in Vriddachalam detected the fraud during his inspection. The cooperative official lodged a complaint with the Economic Offences Wing.
