Considering sugar production is likely to be higher than estimated NCP supremo Sharad Pawar has urged prime minister Narendra Modi to reduce the cap on export announced by the centre by a million tonnes, reports Business Standard.
Meanwhile, the National Federation of Cooperative Sugar Factories (NFCSF), the highest body of cooperative sugar mills in the country, has complained that the sugar cooperatives are being given a raw deal in terms of the allocation of export quotas.
According to the federation, with the center capping current years’ sugar export, the export release orders issued to Cooperative is only 47 percent which is not consistent with performers vis-à-vis non-performers.
