In a significant move towards expanding affordable healthcare access, 4,505 Primary Agricultural Credit Societies (PACS) and Cooperative Societies from 34 States and Union Territories have applied online to open PM Bhartiya Jan Aushadhi Kendras (PMBJK).
Out of these, 2,722 PACS have received initial approval from the Pharmaceuticals & Medical Devices Bureau of India (PMBI).
Furthermore, 772 PACS have been granted drug licenses by State Drug Controllers, and 702 PACS have obtained store codes from PMBI, making them ready to commence operations as PMBJK.
This initiative is part of the government’s broader mission to provide quality generic medicines at affordable prices, ensuring healthcare access even in rural and remote areas.
