The Orissa High Court has stayed the suspension of the managing committees of Odisha Cooperative Housing Corporation (OCHC) and Odisha State Cooperative Bank (OSCB) until August 28, media reports say.
Justice BP Routray requested records related to the July 31 suspension order issued by the Registrar of Cooperative Societies (RCS) over allegations of corruption and financial irregularities.
Seven committee members filed petitions challenging the suspension. Despite typically avoiding interim protection in suspension cases, Justice Routray noted that no financial irregularity was alleged against the petitioners.
The RCS suspended the committees under Section 32(7) of the Odisha Cooperative Societies Act, 1962.
