Recently Uttarakhand Cooperation Minister was at IFFCO headquarters to learn the tricks of organic farming from the fertilizer titan and now the state Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat goes to meet Union Minister Radha Mohan Singh for special grant to boost Organic farming in the state.
The Union Minister took no time in obliging him by deciding to help the cooperative sector and organic farming in the state with a substantial grant of Rs 1500 crore.
In fact, the Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has decided to set apart Rs 2,600 crore for cooperatives and sugar factories in Uttarakhand. Radha Mohan Singh was all praise for the Uttarakhand government for undertaking various schemes to meet the target of doubling the income of farmers by 2022.
Earlier, Dhan Singh Rawat the cooperative minister met IFFCO MD Dr US Awasthi stressing state’s desire to foray into organic farming in a big way. “As IFFCO is also shifting its focus in this direction I wanted to have a word with the MD on the issue. In fact I sought IFFCO’s support in this context”, said Rawat while emphasizing Uttarakhand’s resolution to go for organic farming.
It bears recall that last year IFFCO had announced about setting up of a JV with the Sikkim Government to enter the organic farming sector.
It is worth mentioning that Prime Minister Narendra Modi takes special interest in supporting efforts aimed at transforming the Himalayan state of Uttrakhand into a modern developed part of the country.
