While RBI official tweeted that about 99.2% of CKP Bank depositors will get full payment of their deposits from DICGC, livemint reports that there are about 1,130 customers who stand to lose out from RBI’s decision to liquidate the bank.
The news outlet concludes that depositors having more than Rs 5 lakh are numbered a little above eleven hundred and their total deposits are about Rs 120 crore.
The rest of the bank’s depositors had up to Rs 5 lakh in bank accounts, totalling Rs 365 crore, quotes the news outlet.
It bears recall that the DICGC limit was increased earlier this year to Rs 5 lakh from Rs 1 lakh after the collapse of the Punjab and Maharashtra Co-operative (PMC) Bank.
