Maharashtra based Omprakash Deora People’s Cooperative Bank has shifted to a new premises, now named Om Bhavan, in honour of late cooperator Omprakash Deora and founder Chairman of the bank.
The inauguration took place in the presence of BJP leader & former Union Minister Raosaheb Danve, BJP Rajya Sabha MP & former Maharashtra CM Ashok Chavan, RBI Central Board Director Satish Marathe, and other dignitaries.
Former CM Ashok Chavan recalled Om Bhau Deora’s key role in uniting urban banks to establish Apex Bank with the support of then-Finance Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and Home Minister Shankarrao Chavan.
He highlighted Deora’s strong ties across political lines and contributions to cooperative banking. Chavan also praised the central government’s Ministry of Cooperation and efforts to boost infrastructure and industrialization in Hingoli.
Raosaheb Danve lauded Deora’s legacy in the cooperative sector, stating that the bank will be a milestone in cooperative banking. The event also featured the unveiling of Omprakash Deora’s statue.
The grand ceremony was attended by State Minister Lalit Gandhi, Nafcub officials, MLAs, former mayors, and cooperative sector leaders. The event began with addresses from bank President Prakash Chand Soni, CEO Sudhir Jalanapure, and Vice President Sunil Deora, who shared insights into the bank’s journey and vision.
