Ombudsman not happy with co-op banks

According to banking ombudsman Patrick Barla, there has been an enormous spurt in the number of complaints brought against cooperative banks in both Bihar and Jharkhand.

The complaint math is frightening in that there are hundreds of complaints awaiting consideration by ombudsman, said Barla. Patrick Barla was speaking in Ranchi.

The spike in complaints against cooperative banks could be attributed to the twin factors of greater awareness among bank customers and ATM/credit and debit card related problems, remarked Barla.

The banking ombudsman was set up by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) in 1995 and its main aim is provide a platform for the aggrieved consumers.
