A shortage of urea fertiliser in Sambalpur district in Odisha has angered local farmers into demonstrating and demanding adequate supply of fertiliser soon, reports PTI.
Farmers complain that Urea is neither available with dealers nor with cooperative societies in the district.
Official sources admit that so far only 4,600 metric tonne has been supplied but there is need for a total of 9,500 metric tonne fertiliser for the Rabi crop in the district.
The shortage of urea has occurred for the first time in the district, claims a farmer leader, Ashok Pradhan.
