With West Bengal maintaining its potato supply restriction, the Odisha government has turned to NAFED for procurement, the New Indian Express reports.
Food Supply Minister Krushna Chandra Patra announced the state’s plan to purchase 300 tonnes of potatoes from Uttar Pradesh, with the first shipment arriving within a week.
These potatoes will be sold at ?30 per kg through government fair price shops in major cities. However, traders argue that 300 tonnes is insufficient to address Odisha’s significant demand, which exceeds 1 lakh tonnes monthly.
