Following Uttarakhand, Odisha’s Primary Agricultural Cooperative Societies (PACS) are now making headlines for offering core banking facilities, including RTGS, NEFT, and micro ATM services, reports the New Indian Express.
This advancement is a result of the successful computerization of over 95% of the 2,710 PACS across 30 districts in the state, with data integrated into a common banking software (CBS).
Meanwhile, the Economic Times reports that Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) in Odisha have made a significant entry into the global market with their first commercial shipment of fresh mangoes and vegetables.
This milestone was achieved through a strategic collaboration between the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), the state Directorate of Horticulture, and Palladium, the technical support unit for the ‘Promotion and Stabilization of FPOs.’
Additionally, 1.22 tonnes of premium Amrapali and Dussehri mangoes from the same FPO were recently shipped to Italy, marking a promising start to Odisha’s agricultural export ambitions.
