Odisha: Govt warns against inflated rates of urea
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Odisha Cooperative Minister Surya Narayan Patro has warned Cooperative Societies against selling urea at inflated rates. The state govt will take strict action against them, said the minister, according to media reports.

The Odisha government had decided to sell Urea at the revised price of Rs 295 per bag after implementation of GST.

The minister has instructed the Registrar of Cooperative Societies to ask all the Deputy Registrars of Cooperative Societies and Secretary of Central Cooperative Banks (CCBs) to keep close tabs on the irregularities.

As a consequence the Registrar of Cooperative Societies has written a letter to secretaries of all Central Cooperative Banks, Deputy Registrar of Cooperative Societies and Circle Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies detailing new guidelines to check prevailing corruption in the department due to alleged misuse of position by some senior level officials.

The department has agreed on the lapses in supervision, monitoring and inspection of cooperative societies and non detection of financial irregularities.
