Elected office bearers of cooperative agencies in Odisha have opposed the state govt’s move to merge central and state cooperative banks apparently to give better banking services to people, reports Odisha TV.
Sources, say the government has formed a six-member team to submit soon a road-map for the merger.
Minister of Cooperation department, Suryanarayan Patro said, the merger will be beneficial as it will generate lots of jobs for the youth.
Odisha has 17 Central Cooperative Banks (CCBs) and other State Cooperative Banks (SCBs) catering to banking needs of people.
