Audit reports have indicated financial shenanigans amounting to Rs 370 crore in cooperative banks of Odisha where thousands of depositors have their hard-earned money, reports a news outlet.
The scandal has compelled the state government to start over 20,000 proceedings.
Cooperation Minister Surya Narayan Patra recently told the state assembly that as many as 7,037 cooperative bodies including Odisha State Cooperative Bank (OSCB), 17 Central Cooperative Banks (CCBs) and 16 Urban Cooperative Banks (UCBs) are involved in the financial irregularities.
According to the minister, 15,254 cases have been finalized so far.
