The World Council of Credit Unions (Woccu) is now accepting nominations for its 2019 Distinguished Service Award.
Considered the international credit union movement’s highest accolade, the award honours individuals and organisations that have provided outstanding service to credit union development outside their home country.
“Since its inception in 1986, the Distinguished Service Award is how World Council recognises those individuals and organisations who have gone above and beyond their own credit union missions — to make a global contribution to the credit union sector,” said Brian Branch, president and chief executive of Woccu. “We are happy to continue this tradition into 2019 and we encourage organisations to submit nominations in both categories.”
Woccu members can nominate individuals and organisations that have worked to expand financial inclusion worldwide through the global credit union community.
Credit unions affiliated with Woccu member organisations may also nominate individuals or organisations with the endorsement by a Woccu member organisation.
The winners will be presented with the award at the World Credit Union Conference on 28-31 July in the Bahamas. Each DSA recipient will also receive a complimentary conference registration and one companion registration for the 2019 World Credit Union Conference.
At last year’s World Credit Union Conference in Singapore, Woccu presented the DSA posthumously to Professor Adam Jedlinski. The award was accepted by his daughter. The nomination had been made by the National Association of Cooperative Savings and Credit Unions (NACSCU) of Poland.
World Council member organisations can make nominations by Friday, 15 March 2019. The 2019 DSA nomination criteria and form are available at www.woccu.org/dsa.
