While multistate co-operative societies across the states are waiting to hear from the Ministry on the issue of holding AGMs or co-op elections, the Union Ministry of agriculture remains tight-lipped on the issue so far.
Representing hundreds of multistate co-ops, the apex body of co-ops NCUI wrote a letter earlier to the Ministry seeking guidance in the matter. “Till Tuesday evening there was no response from the Ministry”, said NCUI sources.
In the absence of supporting provisions in the MSCS Act 2002, Central Registrar of Cooperative Societies Vivek Agrawal is having a tough time finding a solution for the impending AGMs and elections of multistate co-op bodies in the wake of Covid 19.
The Central Registrar has held two meetings with a select band of co-operators and has tried to find a solution through consensus but he seems to have hit a roadblock on the issue, said a co-operator.
