Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah said that there is no plan to offer any special incentive to encourage more multi state cooperative registrations in Odisha.
This statement came in response to a query raised by a Rajya Sabha member.
Currently, Odisha has 20 registered multi-state cooperative societies. In the past five years, only one such society—Kharasrota Agro Cooperative Society Limited—was registered in November 2023.
“Ministry of Cooperation has taken several initiatives to promote Multi-state Cooperative societies in the country, including Odisha, “Relief to Cooperative Societies in the Income-Tax Act”, “Initiatives for revival of Cooperative Sugar Mills”, Establishment of three new National -level multi-state cooperative societies for seed, organic products and exports”, etc”, he added.
