HT reports Maharashtra govt recently said cooperative housing societies, would not conduct elections till the end of December this year. The move is a little unusual in that the govt. had only recently permitted cooperative housing societies to elect their managing committees.
A source says scores of housing societies will have to do without elections because of this arbitrary order of the state government.
A functionary of Maharashtra Societies Welfare Association (MSWA) has griped about the fact that earlier housing societies were not allowed to hold polls due to the parliamentary vote and now it is the Assembly polls.
