NLCF: Pandey’s fate to be decided today

The fate of the MD of apex body of labour cooperative federation NLCF R M Pandey is to be decided today as the last Board meeting could not decide on the issue whether to continue with his services or to allow him to retire as per normal schedule.

Talking to Indian Cooperative on Monday the Chairman Mr Sanjiv Kushalkar said” wait till tomorrow; I will let you know by 1 pm on Tuesday”. Kushalkar said he needs to consult other board members before arriving at a decision.

Pandey is retiring on 30 June, 2016. On the question if Pandey is going to be retained, Dabas said it is normally the chairman’s call and only he call tell you.

Meanwhile, Pandey the man controlling the Sarita Vihar office of NLCF in Delhi is keeping his fingers crossed. He refused to talk on the issue.

Though labour cooperative is a cash-rich sector, the apex body NLCF is smarting under the shortage of fund. It was because of addition of two floors to its Sarita Vihar headquarters in Delhi and because of the rental money coming from this that it is able to meet the salary expenses of the staff.

But MD Pandey has not got any salary for last two years as rental income is not enough to meet his salary-bill. He is enjoying perks, though, informed those working under him. NLCF posted a loss of Rs 1.5 crore again this year.

Efforts to revive the ailing cooperative federation in the face of dwindling govt grants have begun to bear fruits, said Chairman Kushalkar. In next six months we hope to achieve the break-even, he added. Pratibha Ahuja the next person after Pandey may take over in case Board decides to let Pandey go, said a source.
